The batteries are very tiny and only last 24-48 hours if running them all the time. If they are used on short bike rides, they can last for weeks. We do send more batteries just in case and as back up for that reason. If you compare to a car battery for example, they are about 1/1000 times smaller and if your car battery is a bit low on amps, you can not even start your car. We have sold over 100,000 and we have found that it is easier to just include an extra and add a battery base as well in some occasions to give more life to bike lights. These really also are only designed for bikes and some folks use them on cars and they really burn batteries down that way. Back up batteries are always suggested.
